Shop History

Opened in 1958 by Fernando Lopes de Almeida. Sr. Acácio Branco, the current owner, began working there at 12 years of age. He acquired the space in 1979 and today it is a unique barber shop. As he says “From here I see the birth of the city of Porto. When I come here, the city is the centre. Everything else is countryside”.The Barbearia Garrett has been the scene of various photoshoots for fashion catalogues and different journalistic reports. The establishment receives many written communications from tourists who long for the opportunity to take photographs inside the establishment. The design is original, with particular attention to the M.Bartholo chairs.
