The Shop
The store, whose spatiality was altered in the 1980s, published for many years the cultural bulletin "Barata" and had an art gallery. It continues to promote cultural events such as book presentations and tertúlias.
Shop History
Founded in 1957 by António Barata, arrested several times by PIDE for selling books prohibited by the regime and for guiding the bookstore as a space for cultural dissemination and freedom of thought.
