The original hotdogs of the Cervejaria Gazela are a gastronomical reference in the city of Porto. Customers wait their turn to taste this speciality in the small space with a half-a-moon counter at the Travessa de Cimo de Vila, which still keeps the original traits.

Shop History

The brewery/restaurant Gazela was opened to the public in 1962. The current owner of the establishment has been an employee of the restaurant since 1970. The famous little hotdogs of Gazela were always known by the citizens of the Invicta. The very small space, next to the theatre Teatro S. João, became very in demand and frequented by artist and, thus, increased its projection in the country. It is referred to in numerous itineraries and gastronomic publications, namely Porto Elected European Destination 2014. They received the Tripadvisor 2015 Certificate of Excellency and, in 2019, they were included in the list of finalists for the “The World Restaurant Awards”, in the category “House Special”. The space achieves greater notoriety with the visit of Anthony Bourdain, who dined there and recorded part of the episode of the series “Parts Unknown”, in 2017, dedicated to Portugal.
