The Shop

Historic and traditional grocery store, located in the city center since 1934, which sells jams, biscuits, chocolates, table wines, Port wines, white liquors and liqueurs, dried and crystallized fruits, cod and derivatives, cheeses, caramels, and seasonal products such as almonds at Easter time. The personalized and attentive service is one of the strengths of this establishment, which has now served the community for 86 years with its excellent produce.

Shop History

Founded in 1933 by Alexandre Santos, Manuel Lobato and José da Cunha Araújo became a cornerstone amongst the fine grocery stores of the city of Porto. They maintain the classic products (flour, oils, vinegars and olive oils, canned quantities of all species, spices and seeds, chocolates with almonds of all kinds, hygiene and cleaning products, among others) in addition to a very strong wine cellar of port and distillates. Today, the descendants of the founders carry on the tradition, taking the business into the future. The stores windows’ decorations are one of the great strengths of this establishment having already obtained prizes in contests promoted by the Municipality of Porto.
