The Shop

Barbearia Turista is located on Alfândega Street and there we can find vintage furniture and equipment. From said vintage elements, we highlight the wood edged mirrors and the traditional barbershop chairs.

Shop History

According to the current owner, Mr. Manuel Vasco Aguiar, the barbershop has more than 125 years. Despite not being able to exactly pinpoint the opening to date, evidence has emerged that confirms that said business has been operating since 1938.
The passage of time confirmed the barbershop’s success. Employees and customers witnessed its growth and chose said barbershop as its favourite. The barbershops presents undisputed value. Adding to the collective memory is its heritage and legacy.
Mr. Vasco reminisces about the 80s, the booming time period for his business. Then, Funchal’s Marina was being built. Several of the construction workers had cut their hair in this barbershop. Fridays and Saturdays were the preferred days.

The services offered by Barberaria Turista are air cuts and shaving. Their quality allowed the barbershop to create lasting relationships with their decade long customers.
