Located in the city’s main square, Praça D. Maria II, at Bezerra Shopping Centre, Carmina has served its customers since 1986.

Shop History

If we talk about traditional famalicense commerce, we need to talk about
the Carmina store. Founded by the father of the current managing
partner, in 1965, it is a family business that was born in Adriano Pinto
Basto street, n.º 5, being currently located in Praça D. Maria II, central
place of the city’s commerce. Later on, two new establishments were
opened where they sold various items were related to photography and
electronics. In the past, it sold newspapers, magazines, tobacco, perfumes
and offal. As time went by and following the path of progress, Carmina
sells photographic material, collectible toys, watches and small
electronics.
On weekends, at a time when there was no ATM, Carmina was known as
the ‘Banco da Esquina’ (Bank of the Corner), due to the kindness and
friendliness of its founder towards his customers, when they needed
money. When the banks were closed, Carmina accepted and cashed the
respective cheques. A trustworthy practice that the "Banco da Esquina"
provided without charging interest.
