With only 29 rooms, this 4-star boutique hotel emerges as a small charming hotel, unique in the city, which stands out for its hospitality and the range of experiences it has to offer its customers.
The Universal Boutique Hotel is located in the historic area known as “Bairro Novo”, famous for its Art Nouveau buildings and for its proximity to the mouth of the Mondego river, the ocean shore and the beach.
All rooms respect the theme of the floor on which they are inserted and have contemporary furniture, free Wi-Fi, LCD TV, double windows, air conditioning, double bed or two separate beds, possibility of an extra bed), minibar, safe box, telephone line, courtesy tray for tea and coffee and private bathroom with a hairdryer. On the top floor, the rooms are provided with balconies with views over the beach city.

Shop History

The Universal Boutique Hotel is a natural heir, in name, layout and location, of the Universal Hotel. It was born in the time of the monarchy and opened in 1904, being the 17th registered hotel in Portugal.
“Hotel Universal” has been distinguishing itself for more than a century for the innovation of its morphology, its essence and its spirit, embracing new trends, but always cherishing its rich and solid past.
A century later, the” Universal Boutique Hotel” is reborn with a new concept, which combines the quality of each of the rooms, spread over four thematic floors – Casino and Glamor, Intellectual Meetings and Recitals, Beaches and Bathers and Families – with the refined, exclusive and both authentic and familiar, as is the hallmark of a boutique hotel.
The original facades of the beginning of the 20th Century have been refurbished, bringing to the present the delicacy of the Art Nouveau lines, with their elegant and rhythmic spans. The inside is contemporary, refined and cosmopolitan, recovers the atmosphere of the Golden Years of Figueira da Foz. The created environment takes us to another time, with images and environments from the past. Each floor portrays an aspect of this city, formerly known as the Queen of the Beaches of Portugal.
